MATTHS - Hanka

Acclaimed Radiophonic Workshop collaborator and Brighton-based electronic producer MATTHS, presents his typical output of dark and broody electronica is on display here with ‘Hanka’. A high energy track that was originally recorded as a live stream performance and then forgotten about until recently. By adding additional layers of synthesiser, atmospherics and additional percussion, the track took on a new direction.

“This is something I love about working with music. You can take audio recorded at anytime and by any means and simply re-work it into something else. This junction of both creative and technical processes is where I like to situate myself most of the time, pushing the audio I use into new areas it was originally unintended for.”

MATTHS is presenting a series of new releases for 2021 which will see him release one new track every month, see’s him working by recording a single take using a bespoke modular synthesiser setup, MATTHS brings you into his new direction of heavy experimental techno.

Recent MATTHS performances include opening for Wire; supporting Alex Banks (Monkeytown and Mesh Records), Ulrich Schnauss and Rival Consoles (Erased Tapes). MATTHS has played alongside Daniel Miller and Schneider TM as well as working with the original BBC Radiophonic Workshop on their new material at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.
